Rautakirja was awarded the best work environment prize in a competition organized yearly by Finnish Fakta magazines. Criteria included outstanding performance, long-term commitment, innovativeness, leadership and novelty. Winners in ten different categories were awarded with Fakta Finlandia 2004 diplomas.
Work environment series was won by Rautakirja due to the positive development of work atmosphere in the head office despite its challenges changes. One reason mentioned was open communication strategy.
Rautakirja's finance function in Finland was created two years ago from several different units. Some 15% of jobs were cut down in the process finalized a year ago. The Finance and Control unit now employs 58 professionals. In the change process, several different teams were started to plan and carry out the process. One of the teams concentrated specifically in change management and communication. Manager of the Finance service center Päivi Pouttu emphasizes the importance of communication in the success of this change process.
